There is No plan to extend 21-day lockdown, says Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba


Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, said that there are no plans to extend the lockdown period beyond the current 21-day announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24 to fight the coronavirus pandemic


The lockdown has stopped all public transport, any non-essential movement outside the house while all shops and services that are not essential for survival during the coronavirus pandemic has also been suspended.


So far, India has recorded over 1,200 coronavirus cases with the death toll crossing 29. Worldwide, coronavirus has claimed over 31,000 lives.


“There are rumours & media reports, claiming that the Government will extend the #Lockdown21 when it expires. The Cabinet Secretary has denied these reports, and stated that they are baseless,” it said.
